Energy Grant 500
Through Business Link, SEEDA is offering Energy Grant 500 to help small businesses. The grant is designed to raise awareness of energy usage in the business and provide a grant of up to £500 to implement changes that will result in reduced energy costs and a smaller carbon footprint.
How does it work?
Businesses are offered the loan of a wireless energy monitor for a two to ten–week period to identify where savings could be made through cutting energy usage. There is a Carbon Trust sticker and information pack to help motivate your staff to ‘switch off’ and a walk around survey to help identify energy saving opportunities within your business. The main focus is your heating and ventilation systems, lighting, office equipment and building fabric, where funding may be available to help you make energy saving improvements. You are encouraged to complete a simple action plan taking steps to cut your energy use.
Once you have identified where you can make energy savings, you can apply for a grant of up to £500 to pay for the improvements.
Support in deciding the right actions to take is offered through energy experts, the Carbon Trust.

Installing the energy monitor provides an instant view on the cost of energy usage in your business. It can help warn you of over-consumption, raise awareness of the electricity you are using and help you to take positive steps to cutting your bills. The grant funding available allows you to make energy saving improvements resulting in cost savings to your business.
Eligibility
The Energy Grant 500 is available to any business based in premises, either rented or owned, with a current energy spend of between £1,500 and £30,000pa. Home based businesses will not be eligible.
